Marionette lines are wrinkle lines or skin wrinkles that run from the corner of the mouth towards the chin bone. When these lines are obvious, they give an unhappy appearance to the face. What causes Marionette lines? Extreme exposure to sunlight. Age-related drooping of the facial muscles. Smoking. Genetics.
The most common, safest, and cost effective treatment for Marionette lines is the use of dermal fillers.
They are vertical lines that occur around the mouth. These lines are more pronounced and appear sooner in smokers, but with age most people will notice these lines appearing around the mouth.
Smoking. Age linked loss of skin elasticity and skin volume.
The best management option is dermal fillers, which can deliver instant results that typically last a long time.
They are skin folds or wrinkle lines that run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
Extreme exposure to sunlight/UV. Age-related sagging of the fat pad in the cheek. Smoking.
They are wrinkle lines, which form on the forehead.
They are vertical “11” lines between eyebrows and horizontal lines across the forehead.
They are formed due to active connection of the forehead muscles in facial expressions, everyday exposure to sunlight, and loss of skin elasticity with age.
Active wrinkles, which are visible only with muscle contraction, are best treated with Botox injections. Small doses injected in multiple areas of the forehead will significantly reduce active forehead lines.
Frown lines appear due to accumulation of tissue into a fold between the eyebrows.
Repetitive facial expressions such as frowning tend to intensify these lines producing an annoyed or sad look.
Cautious injection of Botox into the region where the skin tends to wrinkle during frequent facial expressions causes the certain muscles to relax and unstiffens the wrinkles in these areas.
They are lines that are formed around the corner of the eyes in a pattern that looks like crow’s feet.
They are usually formed due to loss of skin flexibility with age, weakening of facial muscles, and frequent squinting or laughing.
At F.A Aesthetics careful injection of Botox into the region around the corners of the eyes prevents the muscles in this area from contracting vigorously during squinting or laughing. This eliminates the crow’s feet effect during facial expression.
A wide jaw is one that looks large and out of proportion with the rest of the face-ratio.
Enlarged width of the jaw can be caused by overdeveloped facial muscles responsible for chewing and jaw movements. Injecting Botox into these muscles results in noticeable reduction in the jaw width and sliming of the face/ jaw angle.
Botox can be used to elevate the eyebrows by carefully injecting the muscles that depress the eyebrows so that they relax and the brow rests in a lifted position after the injection.
It is done to lift sagging eyebrows and to decrease the vertical creases between the eyes and the horizontal lines across the forehead/temple.
The whole procedure is incredibly safe although there can be slight risks which include eyebrows asymmetry and possible skin sensation changes in rare cases.
They are diagonal wrinkles that emerge along the side of the nose every time you crinkle up your nose throughout certain facial expressions such as laughing and smiling.
They can be treated with Botox injections to stop the contraction of the facial muscles that lead to the crinkling of the nose.
It is a condition where a major portion of the gums becomes visible while smiling.
Botox injections of the upper lip will cause the muscles that lift the lip up to relax and reduce the prominence of the gums.
A dimpled chin is caused by overactive muscles of the chin, which tighten vigorously during certain facial expressions causing wrinkles in the chin and around chin bone.
A dimpled chin can be corrected by injecting directly Botox to relax the chin muscles as well as controlling the involuntary habit of wrinkling the chin.
The nerve that triggers the sweat glands start to become overactive causing profuse sweating
Hyperhidrosis for which the underlying cause is not determined is known as primary hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is associated with certain medical conditions such as heart attack, diabetes, cancer, an overactive thyroid, infectious disease or some medication is identified as secondary hyperhidrosis.
Botox can be used for treatment of severe primary hyperhidrosis of the different areas such as face, underarms, feet, hands, and other areas of the body such as under the breasts.
Botox works by temporarily blocking the primary action of the nerves, which stimulate the sweat glands.
At F.A Aesthetics we use a fine-needled syringe, and small quantities of Botox are injected just below the skin surface throughout the areas noted to have excessive sweating.
This varies from person to person and depends mainly on your skin type, the aftercare is also very important. If you have oily skin then generally the effects last between 6-8 months. If you have normal to dry skin then it can last between 1-2 years. Even after this time, however, you will have some pigment left on your eyebrows which will allow you to fill it in much easier if desired. The aftercare during the first 2 weeks of the procedure is very important in ensuring that the eyebrows heal properly (see aftercare section). You must also always wear good sun protection (50 factor) as the sun can fade the pigments used.
You might feel a slight discomfort but it is almost painless. As the blade cuts through the top layer of the skin you will feel a scratching sensation rather than pain. You are then numbed to go over the first lines that were done, this is to give you better results and better for the artist to work on skin that is natural rather than the texture being changed after numbing. The same goes for other brow treatments, but for Lips and Eyeliner you will be numbed to not feel the pain.
1 and a half hour appointments are given for the initial procedure, after the consent forms are filled in we start with the measuring and drawing ensuring that the shape is perfect for you and then we start the brow enhancement. Eyeliner can take up to 1.5 hours whereas lips can take up to 2 hours to complete. The second appointment which is your top up, is carried out 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure and is around 30 minutes.
The eyebrows generally heal within 2 weeks. You do not, however, have to hide from the world in until they heal. The eyebrows will still look good within the healing time. Initially the eyebrows will be stronger in colour but will then fade to a more natural colour after the 2 w
Yes all clients will need an allergy test for all treatments at least 24 hours before the procedure. Except for the pigment wiper.
If the pigment is very dark and covers the whole of the eyebrow, then it would be best to wait for the tattoo to fade or have removal before microblading can be done. Please refer to pigment wiper on our page. Once we see a clear photo of your brows (old tattoo) we can advise you on what treatment will be the best option for you, as sometimes depending on the colour and size of the old tattoo you may not need removal but just shading of the brows.
You cannot have this procedure if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You may experience some bleeding during the procedures but this varies from client to client and depends on your skin. Bruising is very rare but there may be slightly bruising or redness after the procedure. Some of the treatments can cause swelling, but all these last 1-3 days as it is the healing process.
Please email us for bookings and info and we will send you the relevant information. Allergy tests and consultations are sent via email. After completing your test we can book your procedure date and a deposit of £50 is required to secure your appointment. The deposit will be deducted from the final price of your treatment.
Microblading is ideal for people with healthy skin that is not in the process of healing. Since Accutane alters yours epidermis it is best to wait when your skin is fully healed (6-12 months after Accutane is completed). Microblading is achieved by depositing pigment between the epidermis and dermis layer of the skin called stratum basale, this is why your epidermis layer needs to be healthy so the microblading artist is able to provide the treatment without any complications. This is the same with strong retinoids as it will increase skin shedding, inhibiting the pigment from settling in your skin. If you are on retinoids that aren’t strong please get advice from your doctor. This applies to all brow enhancement procedures.
